French for Specific Purposes

Build the French skills that matter most for your field whether that’s the boardroom or the classroom with courses tailored to real business and academic communication.

General French builds everyday confidence, but some students need French for a specific professional or academic context. French for Specific Purposes gives you targeted vocabulary, communication skills, and practical scenarios relevant to the workplace or university life, rather than broad general study. Open to students aged 16 and above, no upper age limit.

Classes are built around real-world tasks presentations, emails, negotiations, and meetings for Business French; essays, lectures, seminars, and academic writing for Academic French so what you learn is immediately useful in your target environment.

Choose the track that matches your goals:

  • Business French professional communication, meetings, presentations, negotiation, and workplace writing
  • Academic French essay writing, lecture comprehension, seminar discussion, and university-level communication skills

Your placement test determines your starting level, ensuring you’re placed in a class where the specific-purpose content matches your general French ability.
